Some Enchanted Evening

A few nights ago we took a little stroll around our neighbourhood. It was much too lovely an evening to be cooped up in the gym despite our lofty January ideals on getting through its doors more often. The early evening light was beautiful, the temperature as near as perfect as possible for strapping on runners and playing in the leaves. We decided to go on an adventure- we would finally investigate the little park we often pass, on which every occasion I declare "why haven't we frolicked there yet?"

So we frolicked. And it was all so delightful that I was struck with a sudden urge to serenade my love with my own version of "Some Enchanted Evening" from South Pacific- probably my all time favourite musical. Only problem was that I forgot most of the words. Then I had an Oprah "Aha!" moment.

I have an iPhone!
The iPhone has the internet!
The internet has the video clip of the original version from the 1958 movie sung by Gorgio Tozzi to Mitzi Gaynor!

(this last part was actually a guess, but pretty much everything is on the internet right?)

So I sung along with Gorgio with my little iPhone-that-could on full volume. It was then that I discovered how to embarrass the Rooster. I didn't know it was possible. The man walks around shopping centres in pirate costumes I buy him at the $2 shop to bribe him to go to Ikea with me. How can that man get embarrassed by me? I also discovered that he doesn't find it as endearing as I do when I call him my snoofle poofle chops.
Huh!

Anyway here is the song that I was apparently blaring* and the proof that it was indeed an enchanted evening around our little neighbourhood.

*note: fairly impossible to blare on an iPhone near road traffic and a busy shopping strip

a car we've noticed in the same spot in our street for some time. one note read:
"i've called the police. if this isn't moved by friday i'm going to have it towed".
the other note read "instead of having it towed sell it to me! michael ph: 04....."

super early autumn activity. so many leaves dropping due to a hot and dry december/january.
i love autumn in our little neighbourhood but not yet. stop with the autumn activity trees!

  7. I love these photos, and the story of you embarrassing Rooster is hilarious! The notes on the car are great too... it'd be funny to see how that story resolves itself! The beginning of autumn there looks so pretty :)
